In Jefferson County, family law judges regularly establish child support arrangements. These arrangements are meant to ensure both parents are bearing the responsibility of raising a child. While these types of arrangements due not determine the care of the child, they do assist with covering the financial needs of caring for the child.
Although many of actor Charlie Sheen's recent antics have seemed a bit unusual to say the least, his most recent statements have raised some interesting questions in terms of child support arrangements. The mother of Sheen's twin boys is reportedly in rehab, unable to care for the children herself. Actress, and mother of Sheen's other two children, Denise Richards, is currently caring for them while their mother is recovering.
Sheen reportedly pays $55,000 a month to his ex-wife in order to assist with the every day expenses and needs of his two sons. Since the twins are not in his ex-wife’s custody, Sheen claims he should not have to pay her. It was not reported whether or not he felt the support payments should be directed to Richards while she is caring for the twins. At this time, it is unknown to the public if Sheen has filed a motion for a child support modification.
If you are considering making a modification to your child support arrangement, it may be of benefit to consult with a lawyer who is experienced with the family laws in your area. An attorney will be able to help you understand your options and can offer advice based on your specific circumstances.
