In Memoriam

It is with a heavy heart that we inform you that our friend and colleague Steve McBride passed away on January 1st.

Steve practiced law for more than 40 years in Colorado and made many friends along the way. He was also a "giver" with his time and talents. Including the Arapahoe County Bar Association, the Colorado Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, the Family Law Section of the Colorado Bar Association, and the Metropolitan Denver Interdisciplinary Council.

Steven E. McBride was of counsel with Ciancio Ciancio Brown, P.C., one of the senior attorneys in the firm’s Family Law Group. Mr. McBride’s practice focused on high asset divorces, including complex child custody, property, and family support matters.

Mr. McBride had over 40 years of experience. His practice was originally a general practice, covering multiple areas of law including civil litigation, criminal defense work, and probate administration. He had specialized in family law for over twenty years.

Mr. McBride also had an extensive practice in the area of alternative dispute resolution, wherein he served as a mediator, an arbitrator, or special master in assisting parties and their lawyers in obtaining expeditious resolutions of their disputes. Mr. McBride had served as President of a number of Colorado legal associations; including, the Colorado Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML), the Family Law Section of the Colorado Bar Association, the Metropolitan Denver Interdisciplinary Council, and the Arapahoe County Bar Association.

He had received many awards including the Arapahoe County Bar Association Lifetime Achievement Award, the ACBA Young Lawyer of the Year, the CBA Professionalism Award, and yearly recognition as a Best Lawyer in America and a Colorado Super Lawyer.

Mr. McBride had also chaired several task forces focused on improvements to the Colorado Family Law practice and frequently lectured in continuing legal education programs to fellow lawyers and judges.
