Teen drivers are notorious for their bad decisions regarding driving. This is the reason why their insurance premiums are through the roof. However, their bad driving does not mean that they should not be held accountable for car accidents they cause through their negligence.
A Commerce City teen is dead after his car was hit by a hit and run driver. The teen and his cousin had just finished drag racing on Smith Road in Aurora when their driver side door was hit by a speeding car. The people in the car got out, then ran back to the car to see if they had left anything in it. After that, they took off, never checking to see if the people in the car they hit were injured. The teen driver who was hit was taken to a local hospital, where he died two days later. His cousin also suffered injuries.
When a loved one unexpectedly dies as the result of another person's negligence, families can be torn apart. The financial burden families are left with, including medical expenses, funeral expenses and loss of income, can be devastating. If the victim was killed because of the negligence of another, the victim's family may file a wrongful death lawsuit against the negligent party. A lawsuit may enable the family to recover financial compensation for the expenses they incurred. Nothing can bring back a loved one, but this compensation can help families move on by providing a financial future for them.
