As any Colorado business owner can attest too, sometimes litigation is part of doing business. In fact, for some businesses litigation is almost just as much a part of life as the very products they sell or services they provide. Colorado readers may find the following interesting.
It was recently reported that Google is being sued by a Des Moines, Iowa, Marketing Executive for having her picture posted on a website. The website "sexyexecs.bogspot.com" is not run by Google, but the site is hosted by the tech giant. The satirical website reportedly posts pictures of executives that it lifts from the PR pages of the various company websites, and includes comments and descriptions of the execs pictured.
In this particular case, the photo of the executive was published on Dec. 7, 2009. The executive and the company she works for said that they attempted to deal with the situation using Google's procedures for removing content first. According to the company, however, after continual back and forth with Google, they decided it was time to assert their legal rights. What will happen next will be decided in a courtroom.
For many businesses, it is impossible to avoid litigation in this day and age. That is why it is important that corporations have quality and experienced business attorneys at their side. From obtaining the right legal advice before the problem develops, to resolving disputes that have already begun to fester, experienced business attorneys are as essential to running a successful business in 2014 as a good product or service.
