Denver residents who drink and drive know they are breaking the law. But, they also should know that they may be causing a situation where people can get seriously injured or killed due to their negligence. Drunk driving accidents are entirely preventable and a driver's negligence can tear apart a family forever.
An Aurora teen is dead after being killed by drunk driver early Monday morning. The teenage boy was driving a Camaro on Dayton Street when another driver ran a red light on Colfax. The driver struck the teenage boy's vehicle, which killed him on impact. The suspected drunk driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. He may face charges that include vehicular homicide, driving under the influence and other traffic violations when he leaves the hospital. The police are asking for anyone who witnessed the accident to contact them with information.
When a loved one is taken unexpectedly because of a negligent driver, families can be very angry. They believe that their family member was taken too soon and when an accident occurred because of a drunk driver, it can be infuriating. A legal professional skilled in personal injury can help these families determine what happened to cause the death and can help the family recover damages for their tremendous loss. Compensation is available for medical expenses, funeral expenses, loss of wages, pain and suffering and other monetary and non-monetary damages. Holding negligent drivers accountable can be important in making sure they never hurt another person again.
Drunk driving accidents are the most preventable form of automobile accidents. Drivers who choose to drive after drinking are risking their own lives and the lives of everyone around them. Making good choices is important in stopping the occurrence of these unnecessary events.
