Denver residents have a wonderful environment and great weather in which to enjoy biking, whether just for pleasure or for commuting to work. Drivers are usually happy to share the road with cyclists, and are cautious around them. But, unfortunately, bike accidents do still happen.
A bike accident occurred when a vehicle hit a person riding a bicycle around 2:00 a.m. on a recent Saturday morning. The crash occurred at Champa and 15th streets, and the driver of the vehicle involved drove off. Fortunately, the driver was stopped shortly thereafter and arrested. The cyclist was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries. Police are still investigating the accident.
Bike awareness campaigns help to give attention to the importance of sharing the road with cyclists. When a bike accident occurs because of a negligent driver families can have their world turned upside down. They may face unexpected medical expenses, loss of wages and other monetary expenses. Families may be able to recover some of their financial loss through a personal injury lawsuit. These lawsuits can hold negligent drivers accountable.
Cyclists in Denver have as much right to the road as vehicle drivers. Cars and trucks, because of their size in comparison to bikes, often can cause very serious accidents with cyclists, resulting in large medical expenses and potentially even more future medical expenses. When an accident occurs because of a negligent driver in Colorado it is important to hold the driver accountable so that they don't hurt anyone else in the future.
