People who drive after drinking in Colorado risk their lives and the lives of people around them. Drunk drivers cause hundreds of crashes in Colorado each year. These drunk driving accidents are entirely preventable if drivers simply would choose not to make the bad decision to climb behind the wheel after drinking.
The Colorado State Patrol is investigating an accident that occurred recently on Interstate 25 near Fort Collins. A Ford truck heading southbound crashed into the back of an SUV. This caused a chain reaction crash of six vehicles. The accident took place near a construction zone where cars were slowing down and merging. As a result of the crash, seven people were taken to local hospitals, one with serious injuries. The driver of the pick-up is being investigated for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The crash is still under investigation.
When a family is affected by a drunk driving accident, they can feel angry and upset. Such a wreck can cause very serious injuries or even death. The negligent actions of a drunk driver can thus change a family forever. Fortunately, though, a legal professional skilled in personal injury law can help families affected by a drunk driver. He or she can visit the accident scene, interview witnesses, consult with industry experts, and fight to hold negligent parties responsible for their actions. As a result, compensation may be available for medical expenses, funeral expenses, pain and suffering, and other monetary and non-monetary damages.
Drunk driving is a serious problem in Colorado and across the country. It is therefore important to hold drunk drivers responsible for the accidents they cause so that they can't hurt anyone else and their victims are made as whole as possible.
