Are work zone crashes becoming more common?

Each day, many different types of accidents happen on roads and construction sites across the country. However, some workers are hurt in a work zone crash while trying to perform their job duties. Whether Colorado drivers fail to pay attention to the road or ignore speed limits, there are different reasons why these crashes keep happening. However, they can generate many different hardships for victims and their families. Regrettably, an increase in the number of these crashes has been seen in recent years and it is pivotal for workers to be aware of the risks.

The Federal Highway Administration reports that a noticeable increase in the number of work zone accidents was observed when comparing data from 2015 to 2014 and 2013. Estimates suggest that more than 96,000 work zone crashes happened over the course of 2015, 7.8 percent more than the year prior. Furthermore, 67,887 work zone accidents happened in 2013, 42 percent less than 2015. Clearly, there was a very significant increase in the number of these crashes between 2013 and 2015.

Sadly, work zone accidents have the potential to shatter lives in a myriad of ways. Sometimes, victims may sustain an injury that keeps them away from work or makes daily life hard for their families. Also, some people pass away in these accidents, which may lead to lifelong emotional pain and financial problems for their loved ones. For those who have been involved in a work zone accident firsthand, as well as families who are struggling to recover from one of these accidents, exploring all options is necessary.
