Work Accidents Archives

Vehicle crashes continue to be leading cause for worker deaths

With 2019 here, we finally get the chance to reflect on how many workers we lost in 2017. As frustrating as it can be to wait for a whole year before these statistics are final, it is necessary so the state can fully investigate these disasters and how we could make our workplaces safer as a result.

Hangovers, workplace accidents and lawsuits

There are all sorts of considerations with regard to injuries sustained by workers while on the job. For example, an injured worker may struggle with medical costs, be unable to continue performing their job duties or have a lifelong injury following the accident. These are some of the challenges that workers face and these injuries can also be problematic for businesses as well. Moreover, they happen for many reasons, from dangerous working conditions to the negligent behavior of some workers. For example, some people may work while they are hungover after a night of heavy drinking, which can put their safety and the well-being of their co-workers at risk.

Looking at office-related injuries

When people think of work-related injuries, they may picture people who are hurt while working in a dangerous occupation. For example, they may envision an injury that occurs on a construction site. However, it is important for people employed in all fields to keep in mind that although many jobs may seem relatively safe and free from the risk of suffering a workplace injury, various hazards may be present. For example, someone employed in an office may be hurt after tripping on a cord, falling on a wet surface or some other type of accident.

Work-related traffic injuries

Accidents involving traffic occur in a plethora of ways, from drunk driving crashes on suburban roads to motorcycle collisions on the freeway. However, some people are also injured or lose their lives while driving or riding in a vehicle as part of their job responsibilities. Traffic accidents can take place while a person is working in many ways, whether someone is hurt driving a semi truck, operating a taxi, or even just running errands. Moreover, when a work-related traffic accident happens, those involved may sustain significant injuries, even if they are fortunate enough to survive the collision.
