About Isabel
Isabel Norwood is an associate attorney at Ciancio Ciancio Brown. Her practice areas include criminal, civil, and personal injury law.
Isabel is a Colorado native who worked at the Denver Office of the Colorado State Public Defender prior to moving to Ciancio Ciancio Brown. While at the Public Defender’s Office, Isabel took pride in serving clients who had few resources to navigate the criminal justice system. Isabel won not-guilty verdicts at trial and negotiated with District Attorneys to secure positive outcomes when trial was not appropriate. Isabel is passionate about defending the rights of those charged with crimes and will fight to achieve the best results for clients in both the criminal and civil realms.
Isabel earned her J.D. from the University of Colorado, where she was a member of the Law Review and co-chaired the Immigration Law and Policy Society. While in law school, she interned at an immigration firm, at the Office of the Federal Public Defender for the Districts of Colorado and Wyoming, and at the Office of the Colorado State Public Defender. At CU, Isabel participated in the Immigration Defense Clinic, where she first experienced the joy of helping clients achieve their legal goals. She also worked as a research assistant and tutor during her time in law school and graduated having completed over 50 hours of law-related public service work.
Prior to law school, Isabel grew up in Lakewood, Colorado with her parents and two younger brothers. She attended Colorado College for undergrad, where she studied English and linguistics. After graduating, she taught English literature both in Colorado and overseas in Sofia, Bulgaria. When she returned to the U.S., she moved to Oxford, Mississippi, where she earned a Master’s degree in English, hoping to pursue a Ph.D. One of her favorite memories of Mississippi was working as a museum docent at the home of William Faulkner. While in Mississippi, Isabel realized that law might provide more opportunities than English, so she returned to Colorado to embark on a career in the law.
In her free time, Isabel enjoys trying new restaurants around Denver, going to live music, as well as hiking, camping, and snowboarding in the Colorado mountains.
