The Colorado Springs Police Major Crash Team is investigating the death of a pedestrian on a recent Monday evening. The investigation was launched after a serious accident at a Colorado Springs intersection. The city’s fire department and police were present after responding to an alert about the crash.

A preliminary crash report indicates the accident occurred shortly before 7:30 p.m. It states that the pedestrian was heading south when he or she crossed the street at a crosswalk. While the pedestrian was in the crosswalk, an eastbound SUV approached and struck the pedestrian, causing critical injuries.

Emergency services rushed the pedestrian to a medical facility. Sadly, the victim succumbed to the injuries after arriving at the local hospital.

Although the report mentions no details about the SUV driver’s blood alcohol content, law enforcement arrested the 66-year-old man on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. The name, age and gender of the deceased pedestrian were not mentioned in the news report. Losing a loved one in a serious accident that was preventable is naturally a traumatic experience.

Although no amount of money can replace the loved one, the Colorado civil justice system might ease the financial burden. After establishing negligence, legal counsel can assist with documenting the crash-related financial and emotional damages to present to the court for adjudication.

A successfully presented claim will lead to monetary judgment to cover documented claims. Among others, the claims could include medical expenses and transportation to the hospital, end-of-life expenses and loss of potential income.
