If you do not believe that driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is a problem in Denver, two recent DUI crashes might change your mind. In both incidents, the drivers believed responsible for the accidents were driving in the wrong direction.

Wrong-way car accidents often result in head-on collisions, which often result in devastating injuries. Victims may suffer spinal cord damage or severe head trauma in wrong-way crashes.

Crash occurred on Interstate 25 in Denver

The first wrong-way accident associated with drunk driving occurred on Interstate 25 near Eighth Ave and involved five other cars. Five of the victims received treatment in a hospital, but the nature of their injuries was not made public.

According to the police, the alleged drunk driver ended up with “serious injuries” in the wake of the crash. The incident is still under investigation as a DUI case and a case of reckless driving causing injury.

El Paso County crash also involved suspected drunk driver

The second crash also occurred on I-25, but this one happened close to Milepost 162. The crash involved two vehicles and a suspected drunk driver traveling in the wrong direction. The alleged drunk driver crashed head-on into the other car.

Eight crash victims from the other car were taken to the hospital with “moderate to serious” injuries. The wrong-way driver also suffered serious injuries in the collision.

If you or a loved one has been involved in a crash that was caused by a suspected impaired driver, it is wise to have experienced legal guidance because you may need significant financial compensation.
